The Australian Scholarships Foundation Council and its CEO comprises:


 Paul Murnane

Paul A Murnane (Chairman) Paul is an investment banker and company director with over 35 years diversified experience in financial services, consulting and general management in Australia and overseas. He is a Senior Adviser of independent corporate advisory firm O'Sullivan Partners, a Director of several listed and private companies and an advisor to a number of boards and CEOs. He is a director (and past Chairman) of Multiple Sclerosis Limited, and MS Australia and MS Research Australia. He also serves on the Boards and committees of a number of non profit organisations involved in philanthropy, public policy, the arts and corporate governance. Resides in Sydney.

 Murray C Wells (Executive Director) is an Emeritus Professor of Accounting, University of Sydney.  He was formerly Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Director of the Graduate School of Business.  He is a Director of the Seven Network Ltd and Kaplan Higher Education, and a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia and of CPA Australia. Resides in Sydney.

 

 

Denise McComish is a Chartered Accountant, Registered Company Auditor and has been a partner in KPMG Perth’s Audit and Risk Advisory division for 20 years and has extensive experience in providing audit and advisory services to major companies in a variety of industries with operations in Western Australia, nationally and globally.  Denise was a member of the Australian Accounting Standards Board for six years.  She participated extensively in the ongoing programme to harmonise Accounting Standards and, as such, has a strong understanding of accounting and regulatory issues in Australia and internationally.  Denise is a director of Industrial Foundation for Accident Prevention, a not-for profit organisation and is a member of the Council at Edith Cowan University.  Resides in Perth. 

 

 John Cox

John Cox has been in legal practice for 29 years and acts extensively for public and private corporations, government agencies and authorities. John has a large practice advising tertiary education providers throughout Australia. As a director/company secretary John serves on a number of company boards including the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney and has also served on numerous education, philanthropic and arts related committees. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Resides in Sydney.

 

 

 

Hugh Morrow 

Hugh MG Morrow advises a portfolio of for-profit and non-profit organisations that are committed to growth, innovation and impact.  He is most interested in the interaction of information technology, organisation behaviour and corporate strategy.  Hugh hopes to see management capabilities in the Social Economy rise to the level found in the private sector.

Hugh has worked for a global strategy consulting firm, held senior roles within one of Australia’s largest companies, and has taken a high tech business from concept to commercial success.  He has been appointed Adjunct Professor and taught Social Entrepreneurship at Sydney’s Macquarie University. 

Hugh holds an engineering degree from Sydney University, a Masters in Business Administration from Stanford University and is a Yale University World Fellow. Resides in Sydney.

 

 

Deryck M Schreuder Emeritus Professor Deryck M Schreuder is Chair of the Australian Universities Quality Agency, Visiting Professor, The University of Sydney, and Adjunct Professor, The Humanities Research Centre, Australian National University. Following a distinguished academic career in Australia and overseas he holds the title of Vice Chancellor Emeritus of the University of Western Sydney and the University of Western Australia. Resides in Sydney.

 

 

Geoffrey Stirton (Company Secretary) is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Secretary with over 20 years experience in the financial services industry. He is currently the General Manager Program Office, Technology and Office Services with Trust Company Ltd.  Geoff has been a senior operational executive in such organisations as NAB/MLC, Godfrey Pembroke, State Super Financial Services and Investa Property Group.  His roles have covered CFO/Finance, Project Manager and Company Secretary/Governance specialist.  He has played a key role in a number of mergers and acquisitions, including the takeover of the Investa Group by Morgan Stanley Real Estate in 2007 where he was Group Company Secretary.  Resides in Sydney.  

CEO - Amy Lyden is a specialist in online businesses and communities. Amy launched her own company Bow Wow Meow in 1995. After 12 years and growing the business to 2000 distribution outlets and selling to 80 countries worldwide, Amy sold Bow Wow Meow in 2007. Amy has won numerous business awards including the 2006 NSW Telstra Business Women's Award for Innovation, 2002 National Telstra Business Award and in 2004 was selected as the Winner of the Leading Women Entrepreneurs of the World Grant. Amy served on the Board of the Australian Businesswomen's Network and on the Commonwealth Small Business Business Council from 2003-2006. Resides in Sydney.
