Stanford Australia Foundation Dyson Bequest Scholarship 2015

Stanford University is one of the world's leading universities. The Stanford Australia Foundation (SAF) is providing scholarships to enable more Australians to share the exciting experience of a Stanford education for the benefit of the Australian community.

SAF scholarship recipients must be employed by an Australian non-profit organisation with Deductable Gift Recipient status 1 (DGR1).

Please note that Directors or Board Members are not eliglble for SAF scholarships.

Scholarship Overview

The 2015 SAF Dyson Bequest Scholarship provides up to $50,000 (towards course fees and economy travel) for a NFP executive to attend the Stanford Executive Program (SEP).

Established in 1952, the Stanford Executive Program is the flagship executive program offered by the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Taught by more than 30 Stanford faculty members, this six-week program features a general management curriculum that is customized to the needs of senior executives working in global companies, government agencies, and nonprofit organisations.

Guidelines for eligibility for Stanford Australia Foundation Scholarships:

  1. Candidate is an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia
  2. Candidate is currently employed at an Australian Non-profit organisation with Deductable Gift Recipient 1 status (DGR1) - please note that Directors or Board Members are not eliglble for SAF scholarships.
  3. Scholarship will be applied to a course held at the Graduate School of Business, Stanford University, Palo Alto, California, USA between Jan 1st and December 31st of the scholarship year.  For example, the 2015 scholarship will be applicable to courses being run during the 2015 calendar year.
  4. Candidate understands that they are solely responsible for gaining entry through any required application process for their selected course. Scholarship awards are conditional on program entry. 
  5. Scholarship winners will provide 2 short written reports (one within 1 month of completing their course and one after 12 months of completing their course) describing the impact of winning the scholarship.

  • Candidate’s potential for leadership
  • Benefits to the candidates professional development
  • Potential positive impact to the candidate’s organisation
  • Potential impact for the Australian community

Important Dates:

Applications open: Wednesday 18th June, 2014
Applications close: Tuesday 30th September, 2014
Interviews: Thursday 30th - Friday 31st October, 2014
Winner Announced: at the AGM in November/December, 2014

Selection Criteria
The Scholarship is awarded by the Stanford Australia Foundation to applicants who are Australian citizens or permanent residents employed by a not-for-profit charitable organisation and whose completion of the Stanford program would, in SAF's view, would benefit the applicant, their employing organisation and the Australian community more broadly. Selection is conditional on applicants meeting Stanford University's entry requirements for the nominated program. Please note that Directors or Board Members are not eliglble for SAF scholarships.
