WACOSS - Community Sector Management Course - Diploma of Management (BSB51107)

The Bankwest Foundation and WACOSS support the ASF initiative to enhance the management and accountability of not-for-profit organisations by generously offering up to five (5x) 100% scholarships for those living in WA and working for not-for-profit organisations in Western Australia to attend the Community Sector Management Course run by WACOSS in October, 2014.

Scholarship Overview

WACOSS’ Diploma of Management course is run in partnership with leading management training provider MODAL. The course only accepts people working in Community Service organisations that are responsible for managing people, leading teams or staff supervision.

Each year a small group of people working in the community sector are selected to participate in this course tailored to the community sector context. Valued at $4,800, this course runs over 12 months with units at full day training sessions each month. To view course units please click here.

Applicants are required to live in WA and work for charitable not-for-profit organisations based in Western Australia in order to be eligible for this scholarship.

Scholarship Inclusions:

The fully funded scholarship is valued at $4,800 and covers all associated course fees. Travel and/or accommodation is to be covered by the successful candidates or their NFP organisation.

Scholar Surveys:

Scholarship applicants and recipients will be asked to complete a series of surveys about the expected and realised learnings before, during and after completion of the course as part of a research collaboration between the Australian Scholarships Foundation and the Centre for Social Impact, generously funded by the Origin Foundation. The information provided will help us to quantify the impact of our scholarships and will help attract funding for education and training for the NFP sector in the future. About the Bankwest Foundation

The Bankwest Foundation was established in 2013 with a mission to improve the well-being of Australians by enabling the implementation of significant and meaningful community initiatives in Western Australia and nationally. In September 2014, Bankwest launched their partnership with the Australian Scholarships Foundation, which provides ongoing support and educational opportunities to not-for-profit sector workers living and working in Western Australia.



The Western Australian Council of Social Service (WACOSS) are the leading peak organisation for the Social Service Sector in WA, representing three hundred member organisations and affiliates, and over eight hundred organisations involved in the provision of services to the community. WACOSS is part of a national network of national, state and territory COSS’s. They speak with and for the hundreds of thousands of West Australians who use community services each year, bringing their voice and interests to the attention of government, business, decision makers, media and the wider community.

Selection Criteria
The Scholarship is awarded jointly by ASF and the education provider to applicants who are Australian citizens or permanent residents employed by a charitable not-for-profit organisation and whose completion of the program would, in ASF's view, benefit their employing NFP organisation. Selection is based on the applicant meeting education provider?s entry requirements for the nominated program and written endorsement from the respective charitable organisation.
