Edith Cowan University - Graduate Certificates - Semester 2, 2019

The Bankwest Foundation and Edith Cowan University (ECU) support the ASF initiative to enhance the management and accountability of not-for-profit organisations by generously offering up to 4x 100% scholarships for those living in WA and working for not-for-profit organisations in Western Australia to study in one of Edith Cowan University’s Graduate Certificate programs in Semester 1 or 2, 2019. ECU and the Bankwest Foundation are generously contributing 65% and 35% respectively to offer fully-funded scholarships. The opportunity is for full-time or part-time study in 2019.

Scholarship Overview

There are up to four scholarships available and each scholarship covers 100 per cent of tuition fees for the course being undertaken. Preferred not-for-profit organisations eligible for 100% scholarships include those with programs that maximise the education prospects of current and future generations of young people and/or creating employment readiness training and work experience opportunities for the long-term unemployed. All charitable not-for-profits may apply.

The objective of this scholarship is to enable members of charitable organisations to undertake postgraduate studies in the programs of:

  • Graduate Certificate of Project Management (L39): Designed for those responsible for the delivery of small to large projects, changes in structure, staffing, or style of an organisation, implementing a new business procedure or process.
  • Graduate Certificate of Human Resource Management (L76): Develops future human resource managers and leaders to be able to meaningfully contribute to organisational success by developing skills and knowledge in people management.
  • Graduate Certificate of Business (L95): Provides a broad overview of issues associated with the world of work, including the management of people and organisations, together with marketing and integrated principles relating to economics, finance and accounting practice.

 

SEMESTER DATES:

Successful applicants will be enrolled to begin their studies from Semester 2, 2019 onwards.

0.5 years full-time or 1 year part-time

On campus in Perth OR off campus


Scholarship Inclusions:

There are up to 4x 100% scholarships available to for those living and working for not-for-profit organisations in Western Australia, each valued at $11,100. Each course consists of 3x units, each valued at $3,690 for domestic students. Please note, the scholarship covers one attempt at each core unit and any reattempts will be at the student's own expense.

The successful candidates (or their supporting NFP organisation) will be required to cover accommodation and/or travel expenses (if necessary) to attend the course.

Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must:

  • live in WA and work for a charitable not-for-profit organisation based in Western Australia
  • be an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident
  • fulfill ASF's general eligiblity requirements available on our FAQ's page
  • ensure they meet the ECU selection criteria for their nominated program

Your employing organisation must:

  • be an ACNC registered charity or NFP incorporated association
  • provide a program or service that supports people living in Western Australia
  • not support activities that could be considered discriminatory, political, or religious advocacy or activism in any way

Indigenous Australians are encouraged to apply.

 

Scholar Surveys:

All applicants (regardless of the outcome of their application) may be asked to complete a series of surveys about their expected and realised learnings (once before and on a few occasions after the course). Your survey responses will help us to quantify the impact of our scholarships and will help attract funding for education and training for the NFP sector in the future. Your feedback is extremely valuable to the work we do and by completing these surveys you'll be making an important contribution to the future of ASF and the NFP sector overall.

Application Process:

  1. To apply, click 'APPLY NOW' and follow the prompts to upload an endorsement letter and complete an online scholarship application. Need help completing your online application? Download instructions for Creating a Profile Page and Making an Application.
  2. To be considered for a scholarship, applicants will also need to complete a course admission application via ECU's website prior to the scholarship application deadline. Please note, course applications will be accepted by ECU for these Graduate Certificates from the first week of April 2019 onwards. Scholarship applicants will therefore have 24 days to complete this part of the process.

Selection Criteria
The Scholarship is awarded jointly by ASF, ECU and the Bankwest Foundation to applicants who are Australian citizens or permanent residents employed by a charitable not-for-profit organisation and whose completion of the program would, in ASF's view, benefit their employing NFP organisation. Selection is based on the applicant meeting ECU entry requirements for the nominated program and written endorsement from the respective charitable organisation. This scholarship may be awarded to an applicant who is employed by (or volunteers on the board of) a charitable not-for-profit organisation in Western Australia; has demonstrated previous achievement, organisational support and demonstrated leadership.
