NIDA             ASF

Inaugural recipient of NIDA Corporate scholarship

Congratulations to Wendy Lang, Chief Executive Officer of Queensland Youth Services, who received the first ever scholarship resulting from a new partnership between ASF and NIDA Corporate. Wendy’s fully funded scholarship enabled her to attend NIDA Corporate’s 'Creating Excellent Communicators' short course across two days last week.

The course explored the techniques actors employ to communicate with confidence, respond in the moment and influence their audience - a valuable skill not-for-profits need on a daily basis.

Wendy says she is grateful for the opportunity to develop her presence and communication skills. “As the CEO of a not-for-profit organisation, having the confidence to approach corporate leaders for sponsorship or to speak to media fluently and responsively is a skill that will greatly benefit not only me, but Queensland Youth Services”.

Nithya Nagarajan, Client Engagement Manager at NIDA Melbourne says the key to business success in an age of increased automation is communication. “When people feel safe to present ideas, raise issues, and speak with confidence, there is greater potential for projects to run on time, information to flow freely, and for teams to connect. Wendy Lang with her 20+ years of experience in the management of indigenous education, youth support and public services brings with her a wealth of experience and NIDA was excited to have her contribution in our Melbourne studio as a participant.”

Wendy’s scholarship is the first that ASF and NIDA Corporate have facilitated together - a partnership which aims to give NFPs access to NIDA Corporate’s practical skills-based training in communication, presentation and leadership.

“Effective communication is the language of leadership,” says Paul Murnane, Executive Chairman of ASF. “ASF, in its mission to develop Australia's NFP leaders, is positively delighted to launch its new partnership with NIDA, Australia's foremost centre for education and training in the art of corporate communications.”

Nithya says, “At NIDA Corporate, we deliver programs which enhance people’s ability to communicate and present with ease. Our pedagogy draws from NIDA’s world-class actor training toolkit, and we apply those performance techniques to a professional context. Success, to us, is supporting individuals like Wendy Lang to transform their skills to be more confident, inspiring, and engaging communicators”.
